During the office visit we will make personalized trays to comfortably fit your teeth and protect your gums. The trays are then filled with a safe, strong bleaching solution and may require light or heat to speed the process. After you get in office teeth whitening we will then send you home prepared for future touch-ups to help keep your smile white.

At Home Teeth Whitening

Not only will you be able to take home your personalized trays, but will also receive a syringe full of a bleaching solution. This solution will not be as strong as our in office solution, which simply means it will take a few more treatments to get the whiteness you desire. At home you will wear the trays for one hour a day and see the best results after two weeks.

Extrinsic Discoloration

There are a number of reasons why your teeth become dull over time. This staining occurs on a daily basis, and even with proper dental care, your teeth may still lack the luster you desire. One of the leading causes of dental discoloration is simply wear. As the enamel of your teeth weakens, it also becomes more porous. As such, the enamel is more susceptible to staining agents in the things you consume like coffee, wine, colored drinks or food. The staining on the teeth can range from white streaks to yellowing tints or brown spots. Also, if the enamel has become worn it will show through, causing the teeth to take on a more yellowish hue.

Other Causes of Staining

More severe staining, or intrinsic staining, can be caused by serious dental decay, trauma to a tooth, fluorosis, infections or even genetics. In some cases the innermost structure of the tooth becomes darker, yellow, or exposed through weakened enamel. Simple teeth whitening cannot treat these types of stains.
