CEREC Crowns

Damaged teeth cause a number of concerns. Your smile may not look the same if you have chipped, cracked or fractured teeth. Also, you will likely be subject to severe tooth sensitivity, pain and discomfort caused by the decayed or damaged tooth. Teeth in need of restorations can even make speaking and eating difficult. For these reasons, at Richard Bruce D.D.S., restoring the appearance and function of your teeth is a top priority. We offer one visit crowns so that all our patients can get convenient and comfortable dental restorations.

Dental Crowns

Basically a dental crown is a customized, tooth-shaped cap placed over a damaged tooth. This restorative procedure brings back the look, size, shape and color of your natural tooth. These milled and casted restorations, made with CEREC technology, provide the perfect fit to improve your dental health and well being.

CEREC technology has revolutionized restorative dental care. The high-tech dental equipment makes it possible for us to review your damaged teeth, plan the restoration, and place the crown with just one visit to the dentist chair.

Treatment Process

The process for one day crowns is fairly straight forward. First we prepare the damaged tooth with a thin layer of reflective powder, allowing the special camera to detect the surface of the tooth. Then the dentist uses a wand with a camera on the end to create a digital 3D picture of your tooth and adjacent teeth. The software will then suggest a design for the crown which the dentist will arbitrate. The crown design goes to the in office milling machine and once it is finished the dentist can immediately place the crown.

There is great benefit to one day crowns. They can replicate the function of your natural teeth and are designed to look as natural as possible. However, there are some disadvantages to one day crowns. As an example, one day crowns may not be the best option to restore any front teeth. For these teeth cosmetic appearance is far more noticeable, and a single visit crown cannot get all the details. Crowns made in a laboratory better mimic the natural appearance of teeth because they can layer different colors of material. Also, lab-made crowns may be a better option for those who consistently grind their teeth. The strongest crowns, made from stronger materials, currently are not made by the in office milling machines.

If you have any further questions or concerns about one day crowns do not hesitate to contact our office and consult with the dentist. We would be happy to give you more information about single visit dental crowns and other treatment options.
